The Egyptian god, Nut, was the goddess of the sky. Her unique figure was said to be the sky because she is described as a woman with blue skin and stars covering her body. She was pictured as standing on her hands and her feet, facing downwards with her body in an arch. The Egyptians thought that her finger and toes were representing the four cardinal points. In some of the myths she looked like a cow with a bunch of piglets surrounding her. The piglets were representing the stars and she was the sky. In certain pictures she has an Egyptian vase on her head.
In mythology, it was said that the sun god, Ra, would enter her body after the sun would set. He would travel through her body representing night time, and would come out of her body representing the morning. Sometimes, Nut is considered the cow goddess because she reminds the Egyptian people of Hathor. She also separates the chaos in the world. Since she is the sky goddess she would also be representing the sky.
If I could create a temple for Nut I would have it be made out of marble. It would have a dark blue, arched entry-way studded with stars. It would be a one room temple with a secret underground compartment. In the room, it would have a statue of Nut being the sky like in the picture. It would also gold and diamond statues of her in it. Then it would have a lifelike statue of a cow since she was considered the cow goddess. The secret compartment held all the gifts that had been given to Nut. No one knew about the compartment so none of the temple robbers were able to reach it. I think the temple would be a very interesting place to visit and if Nut was real, I think she would like it.
